Music Magazine Planning Sheet Type Up
What genre/s of music will your magazine cover?
Urban Hip-hop as I enjoy basing my music magazine around it.
Who is the target audience? How old are they? Where do they live? What are their interests?
Young people aged 16-25 in the Hip-hop culture from England.
What is the name of the magazine? Why? Connotations?
Realist - relates to the specific genre with a particular font. The font will stand out by playing with the letters
What will your masthead look like? Do you have any ideas for fonts? (this should be accompanied by sketches)
What will be the focal image for your front cover and why?
A person in the front most likely be a young adult as that is the demographic for the genre.
What photography will be required? Give details of shot type, angle and composition
The angle will be direct from waist and head. The shot will be medium to reveal certain mise-en-scene such as the clothing etc.
What mise-en-scene will be required? Location? Clothing? Make Up? Lighting? Use of colour?
There will be a plain background with a person dressed up formally also including shades held half on and half off. The lighting will be low key and high key to contrast a sense of meaning within the front cover and there will be colour involved as well.
What would be your sell lines? How will you entice your target audience?
My sell lines would not be too excessive and would provide brief information e.g. 'Outkast is now officially on the biggest selling Hip-hop of all time' where 'outcast' is spelled incorrectly.
What items and feature articles would you need on your contents page?
There will be a feature article talking about how young people are beginning to rise in the music business.
What is the focus of your double page spread? (interview? feature? Reviews? Etc)
Would consist of an interview with an artist also consisting a review of a recent album.
What photography will be required for the double page spread? Give specific details.
A close up image of the artist and a medium shot of another to vary my double page spread and also allow it to be comprehended easily by my demographic.
